Alternatives to Painting Your Gaming Monitor

Recently, I wrote an article on How To Paint Your Gaming Monitor. However, I also wanted to offer a few alternatives. Painting your monitor can feel like a very daunting task. Thankfully, they’re a couple of other different options you can do – however, they do have their downsides (which I’ll explain below).

Here are 3 alternatives you can try out instead of painting your monitor.

  1. Monitor Covers

Monitor covers are a cute and quick way to decorate your monitor. You just wrap the covers around the monitor, and that’s it! One of the most common monitor covers is the pink Hello Kitty themed one by Monfurise or the Polyester Monitor Covers from Aliexpress.

Downside to this method: Monitor Covers are pretty tiny. They only fit up to 22 inch monitors (they can sometimes fit 24″ monitors if you really stretch it out). And, there aren’t a diverse amount of monitor covers in the market. But hopefully in the future there will be more monitor covers as they are in demand right now.

  1. Peel and Stick Method

First, I would like to credit the user @myuunyan for this tip! She has an incredible setup, and used peel and stick paper to turn her monitor pink.

You can find peel and stick paper on Amazon. What you want to do is measure the bezel dimensions of your computer monitor, and then cut out the tape to fit those dimensions. Then, you just peel it off and stick it on the monitor. PS – unrelated, but you can also use this method to decorate your desk as well.

Downside to this method: The main downside is that if you don’t tape it right, you risk seeing the seams of the tape, and it would not look good.

  1. Purchase a Monitor in the color of your choice

I will start with the obvious downside to this… there aren’t many monitors that come in different colors outside of black and gray. (UPDATE 2023: I’ve FINALLY found a few easy-to-purchase pink monitors! Read on to find out more! 😊)

There are a couple of monitors that come in white, such as the Samsung Curved 1920×1080 HDMI VGA Monitor or the LG 22BL450Y-W 22” BL450Y Series TAA FHD IPS Monitor.

A computer company called AOC had released a few monitors in different colors. Check out the AOC G2590FX Monitor with a Red Bezeled screen.

Red Bezel Computer

And even more exciting, in August 2020 they’ve announced a computer with pink bezels and a white stand! You can watch it in action here. The downside? It’s very hard to find the purchase link online… and I’ve tried searching.

And now, as of 2023, we can now purchase pink monitors straight from the company without having to make any modifications! Woohoo! The selection is still limited, and those price tags are a bit scary, but hopefully manufacturers would catch on and make more options that are affordable. Check out a few of the monitors below:

SAMSUNG M8 Series 32-Inch 4K UHD Smart Monitor

As you can see, while there are some alternatives to painting your monitor, there are also compromises. But if you know of any other methods that I haven’t listed above, then leave them in the comments below!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
